If you have updated your Play Store to a latest version on your android device, then you might have noticed that each time you install a new application from android play store, a new shortcut icon of that application is created on home screen. Few days back, I have hard reset my android device. I had the backup files of all my previously installed application. I always keep all the useful apk files in my SD card, so that when I format my device I can install my favorite apps.

So, a few days back I tried to install all my applications on my phone. I noticed that after installing nearly 23 apps on my device, my homescreen was filled with 20 shortcut icons. Since my homescreen has space to keep only 20 icons. I always keep my homescreen clutter free. I thought there should be some way to avoid auto creation of shortcut icons on homescreen. And here is the solution for this problem.
How to Prevent Auto Creation of App Shortcuts on Android Homescreen :
Follow the below Instructions :
1. Open Google Play Store.
2. Go to Menu and Open up Settings.
3. Find the option Auto-Add Widgets. If the box is checked, then uncheck it.
That’s All. From now onwards, whenever you install a new application, shortcut icons will not be created on homescreen.
